11/01/07-Copper Country Ski Tigers
Brian Gregg came with me up to Houghton for this clinic, my favorite so
far! Of course, i'm a little biased, because i love the Ski Tigers in
general. Last year I did my coaching practicum with them, so I already
knew most of the kids. They're all looking great, super strong and ready
for some snow! First we ran through our standard clinic format: lots of
drills, both dryland and on rollerskis. Then we had some time left, so
we did some individual technique work. It's always great when you can
explain an idea to someone, see them understand and try it, and watch
their technique improve. Makes me want to be a coach someday :) For more

9/23/07-Riverbrook Bike and Ski Shop
The turnout was suprisingly good, considering the library was holding
it's anual 50mile bike tour on the same day. We had about 11 people show
up, ages 14 to 50. The instructors present were Brian Gregg, Johanna Winters,
and myself. We went over skate technique, starting with dryland and progressing
to drills on rollerskis. Everyone seemed to be doing really well. I was
most impressed by the kids who showed up. There were four, all related,
and it was the first time on rollerskis for most of them. Needless to
say, there were crashes, and there was blood. BUT! These kids were champs.
No crying, no complaining whatsoever. They just go up, bushed themselves
off, and tried again. I think i could probably learn something from them...
The adults were doing awesome as well, everyone liked thinking about getting
their weight forward, and I think we made alot of progress. Hopefully
they'll all come back this comming weekend to work on classic technique
and go over the skate drills one more time!
